Each session includes 45 minutes of specialized goalie instruction with Coach Jenna DeMarinis, followed by 30 minutes of goalie-specific strength, conditioning, and agility led by Goals Performance Academy Strength & Conditioning coaches.
During the goalie instruction portion, Coach Jenna will focus on both the mechanical and tactical aspects of the position. Mechanically, goalies will work on stance, footwork, positioning, angles, hand placement, save technique, clearing mechanics, and efficient movement in and around the cage. The goal is to build repeatable movement patterns that allow goalies to play faster, stay balanced, and make saves with confidence.
Tactically, Jenna will help athletes develop a stronger understanding of the game from the goalie position. Training will include reading offenses, recognizing shooting tendencies, understanding defensive concepts, directing the defense, improving communication, making better decisions under pressure, and developing overall lacrosse IQ. A major emphasis will be placed on movement and decision-making so goalies learn not only how to make the save, but how to anticipate what is happening before the shot occurs.
The strength and conditioning portion will be led by Goals Performance Academy Strength & Conditioning coaches and will be tailored specifically to the physical demands of the goalie position. Training will focus on explosive movement, lateral quickness, acceleration, reaction, power, stability, coordination, and change of direction, with programming built around goalie-specific movement patterns.
Led by Coach Jenna DeMarinis
Coach Jenna DeMarinis brings more than 15 years of playing and coaching experience to our goalie development program. A former Division I goalie at Stony Brook University, Jenna has served as the Director of Goalies at Mad Dog Lacrosse, coaches with Goaliesmith, and is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Trinity Hall.
Trained and mentored by Joe Spallina and Ginny Capicchioni, Jenna has worked with goalies at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels and has helped develop athletes pursuing opportunities to continue playing lacrosse in college.
Her approach develops the complete goalie—combining technical mechanics, efficient movement, tactical understanding, communication, confidence, and lacrosse IQ to create composed, athletic, and intelligent leaders in the cage.
